Funds Market Money This timber sale highlights the need for reform of the Forest Service's outdated and wasteful timber sale program. Less than 4 percent of the domestic timber supply originates from national forests, yet taxpayers continue to spend hundreds of million of dollars subsidizing timber companies to cut trees. If timber companies want to cut trees in the national forests, they should pay the full price.
